History Of Perfumes

Perfume derives its name from Latin phrase, "per" meaning "through" and "fumus" meaning "smoke". Later on the French named it as “parfum”, the pleasant smells that drift through the air from burning incense. Perfumes have their history long about 5000 years ago.

Incense was the first form of perfume. Mesopotamians first discovered it about 4,000 years ago. Ancient civilizations burned many kinds of resins, bums and woods at their religious ceremonies to extract incense. They often soaked the fragrant woods and resins in water and oil, and rubbed their bodies with the liquid. They also embalmed the dead with these perfumes.

Beginning of Egypt's Golden Age, symbolized perfumes to be used only in rituals for gods or pharaohs. Perfume was held in high esteem in Biblical times. The custom is still in use today in Catholic and High Episcopal churches. Egyptians carried perfume from birth to death. Since they believed that souls ascended into heaven, so keeping perfumes in tombs meant keeping their souls in pleasure and have smooth silky skin afterlife. The credit for the widespread popularity of perfumes goes to Egyptian civilization.

In the reign of great kings like Alexander in Greece and famous ruler of Egypt Cleopatra the importance of perfumes was understood and analyzed by the whole world. These rulers emphasized on the study related to the effect of perfumes on our thinking process and changing moods. Another Egyptian beauty Nefertiti had a world of perfumes surrounding her. Exclusive designs of perfume jars and containers satisfied her lavish fantasy for perfumes.

In ancient times perfume had been a symbol of royalty and lavishness. But modern day perfumes have become a part of everybody's life. The perfume industry is booming providing cheap and discounts perfumes like by perfume for everybody's use. We have many varieties of brands like angel perfume, Calvin Klien perfume, celebrity-endorsed perfumes like vera wang perfume, Dior, J Lo perfume etc.

Perfumes have lived a history and have been developing since the ancient times. The remarkable natural aromas have lead us produce most adoring fragrances like chanel perfume, dolce gabbana perfume, armani perfume , etc. Perfume trend had captured the world and has a mark to sustain lavish and happy lives.
